Amy is the funniest person on earth, which isn’t saying anything you don’t already know. Amy and her brother David (Life Engulfed in Flames, Me Talk Pretty One Day) wrote, directed, and acted in a number of award-winning off-Broadway plays including One Woman Show and The Little Frieda Mysteries. She, along with Second City Vets Stephen Colbert and Paul Dinello, created Amy’s breakthrough role as 46-year old high school freshman Jerri Blank in Comedy Central’s Strangers With Candy.
Amy has also applied her wit and offbeat observations to writing. She has authored/co-authored I Like You: Hospitality Under The Influence, Wigfield, and The Book of Liz. Her next book about the use of long-forgotten crafts is scheduled for release in 2010.
We wrote the role of Trina the nymphomaniacal bar clown for Amy, but it will be no surprise to her fans to hear that very few of the lines that made it into the final cut were from the original script.
